My name is Vanessa and I am the designer, creator and owner of Winter Hill Jewelry.
I create lightweight, affordable, and unique jewelry by 3D printing designs that I first draw by hand. I then manipulate my designs in a 3D-modeling program and 3D print them in PLA, an environmentally friendly, plant-based plastic and wood filament. I love introducing the technology of 3D printing and bring a 3D printer with me to shows when I can.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota, have an MS in Human Services from UMass Boston, and studied graphic design at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. When I am not making jewelry I'm chasing after my two spunky kiddos, ages two and four.
Winter Hill is a neighborhood in Somerville, a city that borders Cambridge and is right outside of Boston. Winter Hill is infamous for the mobster Whitey Bulger and the Winter Hill Gang. If you are wondering, my inspiration for the name had nothing to do with him. I started my business out of my home and named it after the neighborhood. I now have set up shop at Artisan’s Asylum, one of the coolest makerspaces in the country.
